Announcement    La petite fabrique de Brunswick is a ceramic studio based in Melbourne. Lucile started it in 2014, after making a successful pozible campaign, where she aimed to raise money to start her studio and build a 3D printer to print clay (check: alterfactstudio.net). With La petite fabrique de Brunswick, the ceramics are handmade at her studio in Brunswick at the back of her house. Each ceramics are made in a very white porcelain, using traditional slipcasting techniques. Lucile uses pigment to color the porcelain create pattern, which each time will slightly different, and use a clear glaze to finish her pieces and make them water tight and food safe. Lucile designs and creates the prototypes, the mold in plaster, casts and glazes everything in her studio, and fires all her work just accross the road from her house. With this process, Lucile creates unique pieces, and each time she openes the door of the kiln, she is surprised by the result. The clay by its caracteristics is very temperamental and the result is always slightly different from what you can expect. It's impredictability is what Lucile loves.
But making handmade ceramics doesnt mean there are not usefull as well- the objects as they are made in porcelain, can be used in the microwave, in the oven or in the dishwasher!
